Poetry

It is our Poetry afternoon today.   It is 9.40 and I am still in my pyjamas.   I am now going to make myself a coffee and read through a few poetry books, looking for my contributions.   I just hope nobody calls in (including the farmer, as he would see jim-jams at ten in the morning as the very height of decadence).

I have to agree with mrsnesbitt, I get up at 5.00 every day, including Xmas Day and only watch TV during the day when a Test Match is on.

These winter mornings we both tend to be still in jimjams quite late (I won't say what time but its after 10). I always worry that the doorbell will ring and I shall start explaining how we have been up for ages drinking tea etc. Ridiculous really, we can do what we like and dress how we like.

Ha!...I slept in and my lovely cleaner had to come back later...ashamed...in jim jams 'til 10...disgraceful!!...Ha.

I have no problem with what folks call sleeping in, nor would I ever consider it to decadent and if any person were to make a derogatory remark as regards my occasional habit. They would be put to rights pretty sharpish!

It is now such a luxury NOT to be "up and doing" at 6.30 am!

I hope you enjoyed your poetry group Pat. A new lady in our village is starting one next month and I am looking forward to it.

I have not outgrown "get up, get dressed, make your bed." How sad.

I think pj's and coffee well into the day, once in a while, is just a good form of self-care. My recommendation? Just don't answer the door!

Joanne, what's sad about it?

A bit of decadence never did anyone any harm and if you don't tell the farmer, I won't! Enjoy your poetry afternoon.

I love the word jim-jams!

Having a relaxed entry into a new day every now and then seems like a pleasing luxury to me.

Best wishes.

Just so you know -10:30 am here and we are still in jim jams and cozy robes as it's very cold (15F/-9C) and we've nowhere to be until this evening - we'll be all gussied up and decent by then!!!

Only 10 in the morning? Today was in my dressing gown until 12.10pm. I do most of my writing in the morning - once I have had a shower and am dressed I sort of feel I should be going out, or doing Important Jobs....

Yes, and you are not allowed to read a novel in the morning until your daily tasks are completed.
Think you might be allowed to glance at the headlines in the paper....

I hope you remembered to wash behind your ears. Potatoes can grow there you know. Well, according to my dear mum that is. She used to check. Really.

Always having to get up early and dressed for school or work it is nice to have a morning off.
Coffee and a few books sound wonderful.
i have to get up early every morning to feed thehamish so he can have his insulin shot, pain pill and the first of his 7 eye drops.
Then I can get dressed and have breakfast.

I just could not do that.

Must admit that even though I'm long retired, it's still a habit to get up at 7 a.m., let the dogs out, then straight into the shower and dress before my first cup of coffee. Can't remember what it's like to have a bit of decadence !

"Jimjams at Ten in the Morning" sounds like a great title for a poem...
Sitting in my jimjams
Contemplating life
Oh it's very stressful
To be a farmer's wife.

Our boys would think you were perfectly normal to be in PJs at 9.40 :o)

Where's the photo? You might be sitting there in your negligee for all we know.

Thanks everyone - and no Gwil, no photo - not a pretty sight!
